Present and Future of façade design in high-rise buildings - Cyprus

Trends, Developments, and Fire Protection
The conferences of Elval Colour on "Present and Future of façade design in high-rise buildings - Trends, Developments and Fire Protection" took place in Limassol on May 30, at Carob Mill and in Nicosia on May 31, at Leventis Gallery.

The public interest in these actions was particularly intense, as in recent years has been presented an extensive construction of high-rise buildings and skyscrapers mainly in Limassol and Nicosia, as well as in the rest of Cyprus (Larnaca, Paphos). It is worth mentioning that the observation posts of the two congresses had been run out through retention several days before they were held.

Through the speeches, the architectural public and business representatives were presented with innovative technologies in façade design, architectural design for a sustainable future as well as international regulations and their influence on the fire safety of high-rise buildings and high occupancy buildings.

The conferences were launched with a brief greeting by Antigoni Pipiligga, Technical Sales Engineer of Elval Colour, and followed by Natassa Lianou and Ermis Halvatzis from the architectural office LC Architects. The two architects, in their speech "Smart Architecture for a sustainable future", presented proposals for the architecture of the future. Among other things, their speech included two ongoing large-scale projects currently taking place in Athens with a special architectural design combined with advanced technology in the application and use of materials.

David Campbell, GIFireE Regional Director of Fire Compliance, Thomas Bell-Wright International Consultants, has extensively analysed the important role of Certified Building Facing Systems in addressing "Critical Fire Safety Compliance Requirements of Cladding Systems".

Mathieu Meur, Director of DPF Architects Pte Ltd, presented innovative technology investment schemes in his lecture on Innovative Cladding Designs, analysing in detail the importance of using materials of appropriate standards with examples of important buildings from around the world.

Finally, the speeches were completed with Angelos Zografos, Technical Sales Engineer of Elval Colour and Secretary of the Hellenic Institute of Fire Protection of Construction (EL.I.PY.KA), during which the contribution of quality materials for investment in the perfect design of the building shell, entitled "Quality lies in the details: The ACP case".

The conferences were closed with an open discussion of the audience and the speakers focusing on fire safety and design on the facades of high-rise buildings, during which the attendees presented very interesting and targeted approaches.
