How Elval ENFTM got a bird’s-eye view of Milan

Elval Colour supplies aluminium cladding for new CityLife Allianz Tower, the highest building in Italy.

High above the Milan skyline, the new Allianz Tower is one of Italy’s newest and tallest buildings. Soaring over 202 metres high, the 50-floor tower can accommodate up to 3,800 people inside, spread out over a total floor space of about 53,000 square metres. On the outside, its vast windows curve like billowing sails in a repeating, modular design inspired by Constantin Brancusi's Endless Column sculpture in Romania.

There’s an elegance about the new tower and its architects (Arata Isozaki and Andrea Maffei) were keen to keep the overall styling clean, minimalist and neutral. Supported by golden struts at its base, parts of the structure called for lightweight cladding finished in a light grey colour. Elval Colour was chosen to provide this solution.

To meet the architects requirements, Elval Colour supplied 5,000 square metres of Elval ENFTM for use as external cladding. The 1.5mm x 1000mm aluminium panels (RAL 7035, 30% gloss liquid 2Layer PVDF) are used up and down the building, providing stylish and long lasting protection against the elements.

Elval ENFTM is cast, rolled and coated by Elval Colour, it was chosen for this project due to its superior mechanical properties and stiffness, and coating durability

Elval ENFTM is part of Elval Colour’s extensive range of products and solutions for building envelope applications, which includes etalbond® composite panels.
